January 13, 2014

Monday, January 6, 2013 – Day off today.  No activity at church today that I was aware of.  That night, I dropped by the church to look for something, but instead, encountered trouble with the church gate lock; the combination somehow have gone off.  Took about half an hour before finally, with help from a friend and Youtube, managed to get the lock opened and reset the to the correct combination.

Tuesday, January 7, 2013 – Today, nothing much happened at church.  Ps. Thien Leong was away today, been feeling sick since Monday.  Tonight, the YA CG gathered for the first time this year.

Wednesday, January 8, 2014 – Today, nothing much took place, except for the lunch meet Ps Thien Leong had with someone to talk about baptism.  Tonight, first prayer service of the year, and I led the prayer.

Thursday, January 9, 2014 – This morning, Dinah and Olivia came as usual.  Today, got somewhat busy in preparing for tomorrow’s Teaching Seminar with Ps. Thien Leong and also preparing for next week’s church AGM.  Tonight, I had a meeting with my core team for LiFEgame camp planning.

Friday, January 10, 2014 – This morning, Ps. Lim and sis Sai Liong met together for prayer as usual.  Tonight, at the Teaching Seminar, Ps. Thien Leong led the members through the first session (out of 15) of “One-on-One With God” discipleship, with the help of 13 leaders.

Saturday, January 11, 2014 Morning, no activity at church.  At 1pm, bro Terence and bro Fui Fook met with some GMC members regarding E-Kids.  2.30pm, bro Fui Fook and his worship team had their practice, meanwhile sis Vivienne was handling some students for Tuition@PBC.  Youth Fellowship gathered as usual at 4pm, ending by 5.30pm.  Meanwhile, 5pm, the Nomination committee had a meeting together.

Sunday, January 12, 2014 – This morning, 8am, the Mandarin Sunday Service proceeded as usual.  Then 9.30am, the English Sunday Service proceeded as usual; sis. Sai Liong did the morning reading (Job 22) & prayer, bro Fui Fook led worship, and Ps Thien Leong delivered the message, “Build Up Our New Sanctuary” (Ezra 3:7-11).

Monday, December 30, 2013 – Day off today.  No activity at church, except at night when bro Franco and also bro Bernard and their worship teams had their worship practice.

Tuesday, December 31, 2013 – Today, I spent the whole afternoon preparing the photo compilation video for the church through 2013 that will be shown tonight for the Countdown service.  Tonight, we had no YA CG for the Countdown service.  The Countdown service started at 10.30pm with refreshments, followed by some activities upstairs.  The service ended at 1.30am after prayers and everyone left after 2am.

Wednesday, January 1, 2014 – Public holiday, no activity in church.  Tonight, we did not have our usual prayer service for us to continue to have rest.

Thursday, January 2, 2014 – This morning, the maids came in as usual.  Nothing much else took place the rest of today.

Friday, January 3, 2014 – Morning, Ps. Thien Leong, sis Sai Liong, sis Kim and bro Chee Fook gathered for morning prayer.  Nothing much else for today either.

Saturday, January 4, 2014 This morning, 10.30am, bro Eugene and his worship team had practice.  Afternoon, there was much activity as the Youth and some adults were preparing for a special Youth gathering this evening with BBQ and activities as the Youth welcomed the new year and new friends.  Everything ended by 6pm and most of everyone left by 6.30pm.

Sunday, January 5, 2014 – This morning, 8am, the Mandarin Sunday Service proceeded as usual.  Then 9.30am, the English Sunday Service proceeded as usual; sis. Sai Liong did the morning reading & prayer, bro Eugene led worship, and Ps Thien Leong delivered the message, “Build Up Our Devotional Lives” (Ezra 3:1-6).  Afternoon, 2pm, the Council, CRC and Elders gathered for the first Council meeting for the year, ending by 4.30pm.

December 31, 2013

Monday, December 23, 2013 – Day off today.  No activity at church today, except tonight when sis Elvina and her worship team had worship practice in preparation for Christmas Service on this Wednesday.

Tuesday, December 24, 2013 – Today, nothing out of the ordinary took place in church.  Tonight, there was no Young Adults’ cell group, because it was Christmas eve, so most would be having dinner with their families.  I chose to sleep overnight in church to avoid risk of being late for tomorrow’s Christmas service at 8am.

Wednesday, December 25, 2013 – Christmas:  Morning, all was set for the 8am Christmas Service; sis Elvina led worship with bro Eugene and sis Shirley, we had some presentations from YA CG’s “Christmas Medley” choir, Permyjaya CG’s “This Christmas” song, Airport Road CG’s “10,000 Reasons” dance & men of Mandarin Ministry’s “最知心的朋友”, and Ps. Lim Thien Leong delivered the message, “Innocence” (Luke 2:15-24) with Mandarin translation by bro Danny.  Christmas service ended at 10am, with invites to some open houses by some members, including Ps. Lim’s house.  We did not have our usual prayer meet tonight.

Thursday, December 26, 2013 – This morning, the maids, Dinah & Olivia, came as usual to help with cleaning the church.  In afternoon, I went to run some errands, particularly check our church mailbox at the post office and pay some bills.  Tonight, there was no activity in church.

Friday, December 27, 2013 – Morning, Ps. Thien Leong, sis Sai Liong, sis Kim and myself gathered for our usual Friday morning prayer.  Afternoon, sis Amy dropped by to collect a few items for treasurer work.  At the same time, Mr Yanto, our usual contractor, came to fix a faulty light.  Tonight, while there was no activity in church, bro Jack had a meeting with his committee team for the Countdown Service at Ps. Lim’s house.

Saturday, December 28, 2013 This morning, there was no one at church, except myself (to prepare Sunday Bulletin).  Ps. Lim came in near noon to meet with a few people in his office.  Afternoon, 1.30pm, bro Bernard had worship practice with his team in preparation for tomorrow’s service.  4pm, Youth Fellowship gathered as usual.  Tonight, a few of the young people gathered in church for some gaming together.

Sunday, December 29, 2013 – This morning, 8am, the Mandarin Sunday Service proceeded as usual.  Then 9.30am, the English Sunday Service proceeded as usual; bro. Terence did the morning reading & prayer, bro Bernard led worship, and we had church members share their testimonies for the year with the congregation.  Afternoon, 3.30pm, there was a LiFEgame meeting with representatives from other churches (bro Freddie from BEM (SIB), bro Cornelius & bro Donnie from Lutong Baptist Church, and bro Rick from Varsity Christian Fellowship (Curtin)) attending to get to know more about the coming LiFEgame camp being organized by myself and my team in May 2014.

Monday, December 16, 2013 – Day off today.  No activity at church today.

Tuesday, December 17, 2013 – Today, nothing out of the ordinary took place at church.  Afternoon, bro Eugene and bro JJ dropped by the church before they left to visit a friend’s house together.  At night, the YA CG gathered as usual, but this time to practice for our performance for the Church’s Christmas Service next week.

Wednesday, December 18, 2013 – Morning went to post office and paid the TM bill.  Afternoon, got to meet with Ps. Thien Leong for a bit.  Tonight, we had our usual weekly prayer meeting, led by Ps. Thien Leong.  That evening, before prayer, we had received news that the eldest son of one of our church members had passed away in KL suddenly.

Thursday, December 19, 2013 – This morning, the two maids, Dinah and Olivia came and helped to clean up the church as usual.  Afternoon sis Amy dropped by to do a bit of treasurer work.  Tonight, a few of the YAs came to practice again for the performance, mainly the musicians; Gan Lin, JJ, Jeremy, Alex, Conie and Amy.

Friday, December 20, 2013 – Morning, Ps. Thien Leong and I met for prayer together, later joined by Vanessa, Vivien, and Velson; who came to do their own preparation for Christmas performance, together with Cindy and Joanne.  They were done by 2pm.  Nothing much happened the rest of the day.

Saturday, December 21, 2013 This morning, no activity at church.  Afternoon, 2pm bro Franco and his team had their worship practice.  After practice, we had to help unstuck bro JJ’s car out of the mud at the back of the church.  4pm, Youth fellowship gathered as usual.

Sunday, December 22, 2013 – This morning,we had a combined (English & Chinese) Sunday Service; sis. Lili did the morning reading and prayer, bro. Franco led the worship and Ps Thien Leong delivered the message, “Trust” (Matthew 2:1-12).  This morning, we had five believers who baptized; Pearl, Man Yew, Helina, Andrea and Amelie.

Monday, December 9, 2013 – Day off today.  No activity at church today, except at night for the last Christmas caroling practice.

Tuesday, December 10, 2013 – Today, nothing out of ordinary took place in church during the day.  Tonight, YA CG gathered as usual for bible study.

Wednesday, December 11, 2013 – Today, nothing much today either.  Tonight, sis Sai Liong led the prayer service.

Thursday, December 12, 2013 – This morning, both maids, Dinah and Olivia came and helped cleaned up the church.  Meanwhile, sis Patricia, sis. Sylvia, and sis. Ei Meng got busy shopping and then wrapping up the food hampers for the FoodWorks.ministry this Sunday.

Friday, December 13, 2013 – Morning, Ps. Thien Leong, sis. Sai Liong and myself met for morning prayer together.  Bro. Paul Yau suddenly dropped by to meet with Ps. TL.  Afternoon, there was no other activity in church.

Saturday, December 14, 2013 Today, sis Elvina and her worship team had practice in the morning.  Afternoon, the Christmas carolers got busy as they gathered and readied to go 12 houses for caroling.  They left by van at 4pm and was done at the last house by 10pm.

Sunday, December 15, 2013 – This morning, the Mandarin congregation at 8am as usual.  Later, 9.30am, the English Sunday Service proceeded as usual; Ps. Thien Leong did the morning bible reading and prayer, sis. Elvina led the worship, and bro. Terence delivered the message for the morning, “Fulfillment” (Luke 2:25-38).  This afternoon, about 20+ volunteers gathered, divided into teams to visit and minister to 15 families (giving each one food hamper).

Monday, December 2, 2013 – Day off today.  No activity at church today, except at night for Christmas caroling practice.

Tuesday, December 3, 2013 – Today, nothing out of the ordinary during the day.  Tonight, Ps. Isaac Yim joined the YA CG to conduct a bible study on overcoming conflicts, based on David’s encounter with Nabal and Abigail.

Wednesday, December 4, 2013 – Today, nothing much during the day, except in the afternoon, when I made a storage tube out of handicraft paper and masking tapes for the church detailed drawings to be couriered to Kuching to Ms Megan.  Tonight, prayer service, we had a special guest speaker, Ps. John Carry to share on some urgent going-on in Malaysia in the religion-political realm.

Thursday, December 5, 2013 – Morning, only one maid came, Olivia.  Nothing much else took place at church today.

Friday, December 6, 2013 – Morning, I had the church building drawing sent to Kuching via Pos Laju, before going to sis Chee Leng’s house.  Ps. Isaac Yim was having a session with the young group to share about realizing our dreams.  After that session, Ps Isaac was set to head to airport to fly back to KL after lunch.  Meanwhile, Ps. Thien Leong and sis Sai Liong met for usual prayer this Friday morning.  Afternoon, nothing much else took place in church.  At night, Ps. TL somehow misplaced/lost his mobile phone in his own house and still has yet to recover it.

Saturday, December 7, 2013 There was no activity in church in the morning.  Afternoon, 2pm, bro Fui Fook had worship practice with his team.  At 4pm, the Youth Fellowship gathered as usual.  Nothing much else took place at church after that.  Meanwhile, in Miri City Fan, many churches of Miri have gathered for the Miri City Christmas Parade.

Sunday, December 8, 2013 – This morning, the Mandarin congregation at 8am as usual; sis Shirley told me a number of things that went wrong that morning, but thankfully got back on track shortly after.  Later, 9.30am, the English Sunday Service proceeded as usual; Ps. Thien Leong did the morning bible reading and prayer, bro Fui Fook led the worship, and Elder Kwok Mow delivered the message for the morning, “Acceptance” (Luke 1:26-38).  This afternoon, the Council had our last meeting of the year.

Tuesday, November 26, 2013 – Today, nothing out of the ordinary took place at church.  Tonight, YA CG gathered as usual.  Ps. Thien Leong joined us halfway through the study.

Wednesday, November 27, 2013 – Today, nothing out of the ordinary as well, except sis Amy coming to church to settle some treasurer work.  Tonight’s prayer service, bro Bernard led the prayer, sharing about “Restoration” (1 Peter 5:5b-11).

Thursday, November 28, 2013 – Morning, only one maid, Olivia, came today.  Afternoon, no other activity in church.  Meanwhile, Ps. Isaac Yim had just arrived in Miri and will be staying at Elder Fui Fook’s place for the next few nights.  Tonight, Ps. Isaac had a session at our church to talk about “Effective Small Groups”.  Unfortunately, just before arriving Miri, he had realized his passport was missing and could not locate it.  He was due to visit Brunei but won’t be able to without his passport.

Friday, November 29, 2013 – Morning, it was only Ps Thien Leong and myself gathered for prayer.  Some air-con contractors came to install a new air-con in the tuition room upstairs.  Meanwhile, Ps. Isaan Yim spent his day meeting various people throughout the day.  Later at 4pm, he had a session to talk about “How to Discern and Call A Pastor”.  For dinner, Ps Isaac Yim joined the Curtin ministry at Elder Kwok Mow and sis Sai Liong’s house.  Tonight, 7.30pm, he had another session, talking about “Witnessing to Malaysian Chinese”.

Saturday, November 30, 2013 Morning, Ps Isaac Yim had a session on “Top Ten Mistakes Made by Leaders of Cell Groups”.  Meanwhile, I was at the airport to help purchase for him a return ticket to Limbang; 3.40pm flight later today.  Afternoon, bro Eugene had worship practice with his team.  Then 4pm, the Youth Fellowship gathered as usual.  Tonight, we had our Christmas Caroling Chinese team visiting homes of some families we have been ministering to.

Sunday, December 1, 2013 – This morning, the Mandarin congregation at 8am as usual; sis Shirley led the worship and Mrs Pei delivered the message.  Later, 9.30am, the English Sunday Service proceeded as usual; Elder Kwok Mow did the morning bible reading and prayer, bro Eugene led the worship, and Ps. Thien Leong delivered the message for the morning, “Surrender” (Luke 1:5-25,57-80).  This afternoon, 5pm, Ps. Isaac Yim arrived back in Miri from Limbang.

Monday, November 18, 2013 – Day off today.  No activity at church today.

Tuesday, November 19, 2013 – Today, not much activity at church.  Meanwhile, Ps. Bob Evans arrived in Miri today and will be staying at Ps. Thien Leong’s place for the next two nights before flying off to Sabah on Thursday morning.  Tonight, it wasn’t the usual YA CG, but a cell group gathering with potbless dinner.  About 40-50 attended tonight to fellowship and then listen to Ps. Bob’s sharing on “Finishing Well”.

Wednesday, November 20, 2013 – This morning, no activity in church.  Meanwhile, Ps. Thien Leong brought Ps. Bob to visit and meet some people throughout the day.  Tonight’s prayer service was given to Ps. Bob to share about “How God Answers Prayers”, speaking of how God had answered his prayers throughout his life and especially in his ministries and mission work.  Bro Tommy, Secretary of the Sarawak Baptist Convention, came to Miri and was present tonight.

Thursday, November 21, 2013 – Morning, I came to open the church for the maids.  Meanwhile, Ps. Thien Leong sent off both Ps. Bob and bro Tommy at the airport.  No other activity today out of the ordinary.

Friday, November 22, 2013 – Morning, Ps. Thien Leong, sis Sai Liong, sis Shirl and I gathered for prayer together.  Afternoon, not much other activity took place at church.

Saturday, November 23, 2013 Morning, I came to church early to prepare some of the things for tomorrow’s service.  Afternoon, bro Franco had worship practice with his team.  Meanwhile, bro Brian and I attended a Financial Health talk by Dr. Wong Hong Meng.  Youth Fellowship gathered as usual at 4pm.

Sunday, November 24, 2013 – This morning, the Mandarin congregation at 8am as usual.  Later, 9.30am, the English Sunday Service proceeded as usual; Ps. Thien Leong did the morning bible reading and prayer, bro Franco led the worship, and Ps. Thien Leong delivered the message for the morning, “Truth about Tithes and Offerings”.

Monday, November 11, 2013 – Day off today.  No activity at church today.

Tuesday, November 12, 2013 – Today, nothing much took place at church during the day.  Tonight, YA CG gathered as usual, though a lot of absent, either because for exam preparation or were ill or were traveling.

Wednesday, November 13, 2013 – This morning, I was asked to fetch sis Mabel Leong from NECF from the airport, bring her for breakfast before meeting with Ps. Terence and then bring her to Imperial Palace Hotel.  Afternoon, Ps Thien Leong used the van to fetch some pastors from the airport.  Tonight, sis Sai Liong led the prayer service, sharing about “Patient in Waiting”.

Thursday, November 14, 2013 – Morning, the maids came in to help with cleaning the church.  Ps. Thien Leong was in early to help open the church for them.  The rest of the day, Ps TL was at a whole day meeting with the pastors from all around Malaysia; gathered together for the first time in 50 years of Malaysia’s formation.  Noon, Fajar Christian Fellowship had their last gathering together for the semester, with Ps. Tim to do the sharing.  Ps Tim shared a very heartfelt message in light of the tragic disaster that hit Philippines recently.  Afternoon, I ran some errands outside before returning to church.  Tonight, the Nomination committee had a meeting at church.

Friday, November 15, 2013 – Morning, Ps. Thien Leong, sis Sai Liong and myself gathered as usual for usual prayer.  Nothing much else happened at church today.

Saturday, November 16, 2013 Morning, 1030am, sis Elvina and her team had their worship practice.  Afternoon, 2pm, sis Becky and other Sunday School teachers got busy to sort the Sunday School resource materials, while sis Vivienne handled the Tuition@PBC.  4pm, the Youth gathered as usual.

Sunday, November 17, 2013 – This morning, the Mandarin congregation at 8am as usual; sis Shirley led the worship and Ps. Lei from USA delivered the message.  Later, 9.30am, the English Sunday Service proceeded as usual; sis Sai Liong did the morning bible reading and prayer, sis Elvina led the worship, and Elder Kwok Mow delivered the message for the morning, “How Should A Church Exercise Sound Stewardship”.  Lunch, sis Patricia organized a fund-raising lunch for the rebuilding project; at the end we managed to collect RM1561.  Afternoon, the Council and CRC members had a meeting together, covering the CRC Fund-Raising dinner in April 2014 and budget planning for 2014.

Monday, November 4, 2013 – Day off today.  No activity at church today.

Tuesday, November 5, 2013 – Public Holiday, Awal Muharram.  CRC was supposed to have a meeting today to finalize some matters regarding the fund-raising dinner in April, but unfortunately, most of everyone forgot about it, and thus was postponed to a later day.  No activity in church until tonight’s YA CG as usual.

Wednesday, November 6, 2013 – Today, nothing much took place at church.  Morning, did some errands.  Afternoon, had some matters with treasurer and Ps. Chengkie.  Tonight, our weekly prayer meet, Ps Thien Leong led the service and shared 7 prophetic visions for the church he received from unnamed member(s) of the church within 2011 and 2012 as an encouragement and also a insight to God’s plan for the church.

Thursday, November 7, 2013 – Morning, the maids came in as usual.  Ps Thien Leong was already in early this morning, so he opened the church for them.  Noon, Ps. Thien Leong continued his sharing with the Fajar Christian Fellowship on victorious living with God; basing on the story of Samson.  Afternoon, no particular activity in church.

Friday, November 8, 2013 – Morning, Ps Thien Leong and sis Sai Liong gathered as usual for prayer; this time, joined by sis Shirlee.  Afternoon, no particular activity in church again.

Saturday, November 9, 2013 Morning, there was no one in church.  Afternoon, 2pm, bro Bernard and his team had their worship practice, meanwhile, the CRC had their meeting to finalize some matters regarding the fund-raising dinner in April.  4pm, the Youth gathered as usual.  Tonight, the Curtin CG had a special end-of-semester party, instead of their usual bible study.

Sunday, November 10, 2013 – This morning, the Mandarin congregation at 8am as usual.  Later, 9.30am, the English Sunday Service proceeded as usual; bro Terence did the morning bible reading and prayer, bro Bernard led the worship, and Ps. Thien Leong delivered the message for the morning, “When the Manifestation of the Holy Spirit Confuses Me” (Part 3).  No other activity took place at church after service today.  Today, 5 of the Iban boys came.
